Do you aspire to dance in a Ballroom under the sparkle of a glitter ball like they do on 'Dancing with the Stars' or 'Strictly Come Dancing'? This 6 Week Flexible Beginner Latin American and Ballroom Dancing Course is aimed at children aged 7 - 11 years. It is suitable for beginners or those with very little training in Ballroom. It is ideal for those who cannot attend my live classes or require the flexibility of being able to practice in their own time. A huge advantage to taking a flexible course is the ability to practice the weekly videos over and over. Learners are encouraged to upload their own videos to the classroom so that I can offer feedback during the course and also to build a comradery with fellow learners. This Beginner course will help give confidence to the dancers and introduce them to the different rhythms and styles in Ballroom Dance. Dance is an art-form which requires practice to master techniques. Learners will be encouraged to practice. Each week the dancers will be introduced to a new Dance in different Ballroom and Latin American styles. Each week there will be both an instructional lesson and a practice video version. Week 1:- Introduction Warm Up Rhythm Technique - Cha Cha Cha Dance (Solo Routine) Cool Down Week 2:- Warm Up Rhythm Technique - Tango Dance (Solo Routine) Cool Down Week 3:- Warm Up Rhythm Technique - Samba Dance (Solo Routine) Cool Down Week 4:- Warm Up Rhythm Technique - Waltz Dance (Solo Routine) Cool Down Week 5:- Warm Up Rhythm Technique - Charleston Dance (Solo Routine) Cool Down Week 6:- Warm Up Rhythm Technique - Jive Dance (Solo Routine) Cool Down Weekly Challenge Each week I shall set a challenge for the learners to participate in. E.g. "Dance with a Prop". Learners will practice a combination using a prop and then post a video of themselves by the end of the week. Teaching Style & Interaction:- I have a positive approach to teaching. As this is a flexible course there are no live meetings; however I will be available via the classroom for feedback and support. I will aim to reply to all messages/videos within 24 hours of them being posted. I encourage learners to post in the classroom, interact with each other as well as myself. Let's share the love of dance!

I have been teaching dance for over 25 years. I am a qualified professional dance teacher with the NCDTA International (Northern Counties Dance Teachers Association, UK) and the IDTA (International Dance Teachers Association). I have taught all ages of Ballroom from young to adult. I am currently the Children's Program Director of a Dance Studio in the USA.
I competed in Ballroom all over the U.K. until I turned Professional to pursue a teaching career during which time I have trained many Ballroom competitors successfully winning events around the U.K. I also taught the Ballroom and Latin American Society at Durham University teaching hundreds of students every week for many years before moving to the USA. I am also a fan of 'Dancing With The Stars' and followed the UK version 'Strictly Come Dancing'; even appearing on the BBC show in some fun features!
