US Grade 5 - 8
Beginner - Intermediate Level
We will cover the 8 basic exercises of the ballet barre. I will demonstrate the combinations and dance them to set music with you. All you have to do is follow along. I will give general corrections throughout the class. If students are comfortable doing the second side without demonstration, I will observe and give personal corrections on the second side of each exercise. The last five minutes of class will be dedicated to questions if there are any. If there are not, we will continue with corrections. If you don’t have access to a barre you can use the back of a chair, or anything supportive that you are comfortable with. Your child is free to wear socks or ballet slippers; tights, shorts, skirt (over a leotard and tights, or over fitted shorts) or leggings; a T-shirt, a fitted top, or leotard. Please be advised to have enough space for your child to move around in, being aware of and clearing away any physical hazards that could come in the way of your child’s movements. Please ensure your child has on proper footwear with sufficient traction. Please provide a water bottle for your child if needed. And please try to encourage your child to prepare with adequate stretching before class to avoid any risk of injuries.
Learning Goals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello! I am a former Principal Dancer with The Miami City Ballet and a former Principal Dancer with The National Ballet of Canada. I graduated from The National Ballet School and I have had the wonderful privilege and honor of dancing professionally for 17 years.
I have 2 years of teaching experience at a ballet studio, And 10 years of private coaching experience (in studio and online), as well as various guest teaching for large group classes between the ages of 9 and 18 and also adult levels. I also recently have had the opportunity to have 1 year experience teaching ballet and jazz to ages 4-9 as well as toddler programs and new baby and parent movement programs.
I have recently started my dance coaching company elenalobsanovadance and have coached a 9 year old classical ballet competitor in YAGP 2024 to an A level score. I am currently choreographing contemporary and preparing other prospective YAGP and WBAC competitive dancers.
You can find me on Facebook and feel free to message me for any questions.

I have experience with the Vaganova method, RAD and Cechetti systems. I normally like to follow my own version of all of these systems for coaching and teaching based on my own experience in my professional dancing career, and based on observation of the specific student’s artistic, creative and anatomical needs.
I am of the philosophy that in order to succeed as a student, every need of theirs should be met and paid deep attention to by the teacher. I feel it is my duty to guide them through what their bodies and minds can naturally handle and adhere to - according to their individualities and personalities.
I therefore try to give each student their own attention as required during close observation.
I welcome those who have no experience with ballet as well. It is my passion to help anyone develop their physical health based on postural development, anatomical observations and resistance training methods.
I also offer pre-ballet, conditioning for the body based on Pilates, mat work, floor barre, resistance training and gym training.
If you would like to help your child with movement coordination through Ballet or Pilates exercises or if you would like your child to work on more detail to develop their technique or artistry, I have experience helping people of various ages and backgrounds achieve improvement.
Thank you for your interest and happy dancing!
