THESE CLASSES DO NOT BUILD UPON EACH OTHER. SAME STRUCTURE AND LESSON IN EACH CLASS :)

Finally we will be sinning, dancing, and playing games; such as music and movement games by Patty Shukla, Go Noodle games, Simon says, and Balancing Games and more.

3) How is your class structured? This ongoing class will be held once a week for 1hr. The class will include 5 min of welcome, 10-15 min of ballet barre, 15-20 min of Ballet Center and Stretching, and 30min of Tap.

4) How will you teach? I will be teaching through a live zoom. I encourage all students to have their video camera and microphone on, but it is not required.

5) What's your teaching style? I use a very creative and engaging approach while teaching dance. Every step we do can be related to imaginative play. Such as a “Spank” in tap is like scooping ice cream off the floor. Or we will be going on adventures through the Jungle, being chefs, or catching butterfly on our ballet stretching journey. I also name my left and right sides to avoid confusion. Your right side is named “Sally” and your left side is named “Johnny”.

6) How much will learners get to interact with you and each other (mention specifics like: lecture, games, slides, video clips, discussion)? Throughout class we will be interacting as a group: like counting out loud, Playing a Balancing Game at the Barre, 5 position race game in the center, several tap games and more. Also each child will have an opportunity to tell me what they are imagining while doing the steps. I always play fair and allow each student to have an opportunity to speak.

7) Any required experience or knowledge learners need? No experience needed. 6 months to 1 year of dance experience is highly recommended but not required. Students should have almost mastered the following: Ballet: knowledge of the 5 positions, plie's, tondu's, saute's, Relevé, Ballet Walks, Ballet Runs, Bourree, arabesque, etc. Tap: marches, claps, brush, spank, steps, stamps and Stomps, heel digs, etc.
As an alternative to tap shoes, sneakers are fine.

Students will be participating in a physical fitness/movement activities throughout the class. Please be aware that your child can end up injuring themselves. Therefore please make sure your child has sufficient dance space, proper footwear (choice of ballet shoes, barefoot, tap shoes, and/or sneakers). In addition, I encourage all students to have a water bottle nearby and is warmed up before class to avoid injuries. Parental supervision is strongly encourage to help your dancer assure there safety and spatial awareness.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I AM IN MY FINAL YEAR OF GRADUATE SCHOOL. MY SCHEDULE COULD CHANGE WITH LITTLE NOTICE. I WILL TRY TO ACCOMADTE AS MANY FRIENDS AS POSSIBLE.

My name is Ariel Baham. I have my BA in Psychology with minors in Early Childhood Education (P-3) and Dance from the Saint Elizabeth University. I am pursuing my Masters degree in School Counseling. I have been dancing for 18 years and have been continuing my training every summer through Joffrey School Workshops and CLI studios. I have Dance experience in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Lyrical, Yoga, Theater Jazz, Jazz Funk, Modern and Hip Hop. In addition, I have also taught dance to children ranging in ages 2.5-12 years old. I lead, directed and choreographed the preschool dance camp during past summers. Overall, I have been teaching dance for the past 3 years. I believe that dance class is a place to be able to express yourself, learn something new, have fun, and develop a passion, appreciation and love for the art of dance. Developing this passion and admiration for dance is the primary goal for your child. Everyone has strengths and weakness and it is my position as a dance teacher to train the dancers to work on their weaknesses. I will encourage them to grow and continuously improve in their technique. As a teacher, my philosophy is that each child is unique. I recognize each student as an individual whom I will support, love, and teach them in a caring atmosphere. I will help them mature emotionally, cognitively, and physically. I believe in developing the confidence and passion of every child. I will also help them thrive in their academic or dance career. “NOT everyone will become world renowned, but if you have the passion, you CAN become anything you want to be.”

Fun Facts About Me: I love anything Disney (so expect lots of Disney songs in our combos), and I have a dog, who occasionally likes to be my audience while I am dancing. Finally I LOVE to have FUN!

My goal is for your child to feel like they are apart of a class that is like there very own dance school.

Miss Ariel Virtual studio: The Dance Space I teach in I call it “our space”, it features a professional Marley flooring, excellent lighting and sound. In addition, all my current students are able to join our “Student Corner” staring all dancers artwork sent, pictures and more.
