Let's hop on the balance beam! In this one-time class, students will be introduced to the balance beam in a variety of ways. They will learn kicks, hops, turns, and more! We will begin class with a warm-up and stretching. Then, I will lead the class in a variety of drills on the beam to learn balance. These will be drills the students can continue to work on long after class is over. You will find my teaching style to be warm, friendly, and encouraging. Students can move at their own pace and participate as they feel comfortable. Students can use a floor beam in class, or they can use a line taped to a mat. If they use a line, it needs to be at least 4 feet long. For the safety of your student, raised beams are not allowed in this class. In addition, students should participate barefoot to prevent slipping. All floor beams should be sitting on top of carpet or an exercise mat.
Learning Goals
Students will learn basic, beginner skills on the balance beam.
