Celebrate St. Patricks Day making some delicious elevated Irish Soda Bread along with some fresh homemade butter. This is a hands on class where I will be modeling everything from start to finish.

Class Experience

INGREDIENTS: 4 cups plus 2 tbs flour all purpose 1 1/4 tsp salt 1 tsp baking soda 2 tsp granulated sugar 1 cup shredded mild cheddar cheese 1 tbsp minced garlic 1 heaping tsp fresh rosemary 1 heaping tsp fresh thyme 4 tbsp grated butter 1 large egg 1 3/4 cup buttermilk or buttermilk substitute *Substitute: 1 3/4 cups milk and 3 1/2 tbsp lemon juice 1 cup heavy cream, 38% fat content 1/4 tsp salt, optional cold water SUPPLIES: Large mixing bowl Electric standing mixer or hand held mixer fine mesh strainer or cheese cloth measuring cups and spoons 1 baking sheet, dutch oven OR skillet (that can be placed in the oven) parchment paper if using a baking sheet spatula
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Parental supervision is encouraged to be available if your learner needs help with the oven or mixer. Ingredients may need to be substituted to fit your learners needs if they have food allergies.
