1 hour per week. No grades will be given. Students will set goals and make decisions regarding their baking business throughout the course. In addition, students are encouraged to practice their baking skills outside of class.

🍪OVERVIEW
Does your learner love to bake cakes, cookies, pies, cobblers, brownies, and/or the like and want to start a baking business? Then this class is for you!  In this class, budding entrepreneurs will turn their passion for baking into profit.   They will discover the key ingredients to running a successful baking empire.  Furthermore, students will let their creativity run wild by adding their own unique flavor to their baking business.  In addition to baked goods, students who are interested in selling sweet treats such as chocolate covered popcorn, Rice Krispy treats, candies and the like are more than welcome to join.  

🍪🍪🍪This is NOT a cooking class. This class focuses on teaching students how to run a successful baking business.  NO instruction on how to actually bake will be discussed during class.  HOWEVER students will be encouraged to practice their baking skills outside of class.  They are welcome to bring anything they bake at home to class.

During class, they will be introduced to fundamental business principles and concepts that will expand and deepen their understanding of entrepreneurship.  They will use their creativity, natural instincts, and the information they learn from class to bring their baking business to life.

Overall, this class will ignite their love for business, while helping them develop an entrepreneurial mindset.  Starting a business is a great way for children to increase confidence and self esteem while growing social skills. The memories they create from this experience will last a lifetime.

Class #1 - "The Main Ingredients" 
Class #2 - "Marketing and Branding" 
Class #3 - "Money Money Money" 
Class #4 - "Grand Opening"

🍪Class #1: "The Main Ingredients" 
Students will be introduced to important business terms and concepts, set goals, and start their business plan.  Some topics discussed include:

-What is entrepreneurship
-Qualities of an entrepreneur
-Why is goal setting important
-What is a business plan
-Elements of a business plan
-Sole Proprietorship vs. Partnership
-Charitable giving

🍪Class #2:  "Marketing & Branding" 
Students will be introduced to important business terms and concepts relating to marketing, branding, and advertising.  Some topics discussed include:

-What is marketing
-What is branding
-Defining your niche
-Choosing your location
-Decorating your stand
-Creating effective signage and displays
-Leveraging social media

🍪Class #3: "Money Money Money" 
Students will be introduced to important business terms and concepts relating to the financial side of running a business.  Some topics discussed include:

-Identifying expenses
-Figuring out start up costs
-Creating a budget
-Calculating sales and profit
-What is an investor
-Pros and cons of a loan
-Setting your Price

🍪Class #4: Bake Stand "Grand Opening" 
Students will make final preparations for their bake stand grand opening.  If they choose, they can role play customer service scenarios as well as practice their 20 second pitches.  Final topics discussed include:

-Sales strategies
-Customer service
-Dealing with rejections
-Personal safety
-Reflective journaling & other forms of evaluation

🍪MY TEACHING STYLE
-I like to tease the imagination of students by presenting information in unique and unconventional ways.  Specifically, I incorporate elements of play, discovery, and adventure into my classes.
-My classes are structured to allow for student interaction.  I also encourage students to interact with each other.
-My teaching methods are very deliberate and intentional.  To capture the attention of my students, I design eye-catching and vibrant slide show presentations.
-My goal is to create captivating and unique learning experiences.

-I am extremely attentive to students while teaching.  I provide friendly and timely communication and feedback to both parents and students.

🍪ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
-This class will appeal to learners who are interested in baking, business, and entrepreneurship.
-Previous baking experience is helpful.  Please note - NO instruction on how to actually bake will be discussed in this class.  This class focuses solely on how to run a successful baking business.  
-No previous business knowledge is required.
-It is helpful if students possess a basic knowledge of adding, subtracting, division, and multiplication.
-Learners should bring a calculator, notebook, and pen/pencil to class.
-Tips & reminders will be posted in the classroom posts during class.

I am passionate, enthusiastic, and knowledgeable about entrepreneurship, business, and interior design. I offer engaging and relevant classes that cater to these learning interests. 

I received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and a Master of Arts in Nonprofit Administration from John Carroll University. The skills and knowledge I gained have contributed favorably to my entrepreneurial and teaching endeavors. 

Currently, I own an interior design business that I have been operating since 2015. To date, I have designed over 100 spaces. As a business owner, I have learned to overcome obstacles, take risks, and utilize creativity. Consequently, I have gained a wealth of knowledge relating to entrepreneurship, business, and interior design. My real-world experiences prepared me to teach business concepts in a practical yet meaningful way. 

As a teacher, I like to tease the imagination of students by presenting information in unique and unconventional ways. On a personal note, I am a homeschool mom of 10 years to two amazing daughters. I recently became a dog mom to an adorable Yorkie Poo named Dallas. When I am not eating potato chips, I enjoy drinking smoothies, spending time in nature, traveling, reading, and playing chess.
