Assessment
Their PowerPoints of their dessert will need to be uploaded by each Friday. They will need to share a little bit about how they felt as they prepared the meal, what they found to be difficult for them, what they found to be easy, and what they changed about their recipe.Class Experience
This class is an asynchronous baking class, designed to teach students how to read recipes and make desserts for the whole family. In this month-long class, we will learn to make desserts from scratch and from a box. There will be no live classes. Each week, I will upload the recipe to the classrooms page, along with detailed instructions, and a step-by-step PowerPoint for each recipe with photos to help guide the students while baking their recipe. Each week the learners will need to take pictures of their baking experience. These photos need to be about the beginning, middle, and end of their baking to show progress. Remember to take a photo of the final product. These photos they will then use to create a PowerPoint showing their baking journey to be submitted the final week of class. They will need to prepare a short PowerPoint presentation to be uploaded to the classrooms page. (There will be a quick easy guide to PowerPoints for reference.) In the PowerPoint, they will need to share what they liked/disliked about each recipe, what they could have done differently, and any changes that they made to their recipe. Please it is important for you to look at each individual's PowerPoint and provide positive feedback to each person. Throughout the course, we will have fun little trivia games about the recipes for each week using Kahoots. One of three recipes will be chosen each week. Listed below are the possible recipes that may be used during that week. Week 1: No-Bake Recipes *Cheesecake *Rice Crispies *Caramel Popcorn Week 2: Baking From a Box (We will learn tips and tricks to make them taste like they are from scratch) *Cupcakes *Brownies *Chocolate Chip Cookies Week 3: From Scratch *Lemon Bars *Chocolate Cake with Coconut Pecan Frosting *Peanut Butter Bars Week 4: Cookies *Peanut Butter Cookies *Homemade Oreo Cookies *Sugar Cookies As we go through this learning process, we will discuss options that we can choose to make our selection healthier, we will discuss substitutions and/or additions to the recipe. We will discuss food preparation, the proper way to handle food, and ways to stay safe while using the stove and oven. We will share our experiences in making the dessert on the classroom page. We will share what we thought about the recipe. Please remember to be respectful to everyone. Everyone's opinion about the recipes that week are important!
