Class Experience

This class is meant to serve as a convenient homework-help tool for elementary-aged students. I will assist with homework if necessary, facilitate positive learning experiences, and encourage learners to do their best work. This class is a great opportunity for busy parents to have a teacher supervise homework. It will also provide a safe place for students to make friends and possibly even help their classmates out. Homeschooled students are welcome to do their work in this class as well.

I am able to assist with general homework questions, especially in English, Math, Reading, and beginning Spanish.

The format of this class will be as if your learner were at an afterschool program. I intend to spend 10 of the 55 minutes doing a brief activity to help everyone relax and focus. No supplies will be required for the activity. After that, the remaining 45 minutes will be for homework. Students are welcome to eat snacks (microphones off while eating please), talk with friends, ask questions, etc...If multiple students complete their homework, I will create a separate (supervised) breakout room for socializing so that the other students don't get distracted.

This class is 100% based upon the needs of the learners who are present in that session. Students may join at any time as the lessons do not build upon each other.

Parents should know, I will not do the work for your learner and this is NOT a 1 on 1 tutoring class. Students should have a general idea of how to do the work (although I am happy to help with minor confusion) and should be able to participate in the class appropriately.

I feel that children should be encouraged to follow their passions. Children need to know that they can have what they want for their lives if they have the correct tools and motivation to get there. I hope to help build confidence in my students and to give them some of those tools. I also believe that not every child learns the same way. Education is not a one-size-fits-all experience. I look forward to helping your child learn how they learn.

While I offer an extensive collection of class content choices, my specialty is meeting students where they’re at and making the course material accessible to all students, regardless of the topic. I love to be silly with my students and encourage interaction in all of my classes. I want learners to feel at ease and safe to be themselves in my classroom. My small class sizes and relaxed, encouraging teaching style allow me to tailor my classes to each student’s needs and learning style, resulting in learners walking away from class confident and smiling.

*If you don't see a time listed that works for you, please reach out. I am happy to add classes to accommodate students' schedules whenever I can. Thank you!*

Hi there. I am a homeschooling mom of five kids, ranging in age from ten to nineteen. We are diving into our 7th year of homeschooling and we love it. I have a passion for both education and creativity and I love combining the two whenever I can. When I'm not teaching (my kids or someone else's), I run a business based purely on creativity and art.

Traveling (and 8 years of formal classes) gave me a handle on the Spanish language. I have a background in general education from 19 years of combined experience teaching in public and charter school settings, as well as tutoring one on one, ESL, and running various camps and activities. My experience ranges from childcare (infant) age all the way through high school age and includes work with neurodiverse and special needs students, as well as students with mental health issues.

I have a passion for, and educational background in Graphic Art/Design, however, my degrees are AA in Liberal Studies and a BA in General Studies with a concentration in Psychology. I am also certified in TESOL and Art Therapy.
