Class Experience

Caring for younger siblings, cousins and friends is a common rite of passage in every teen’s life. There are so many things to consider and plan out.
What will you do for the duration of the time?
Do you have a special snack you can make?
What activities do you have planned for you and the children?
Though this can be a very fun experience, it's important to know what to do in case of emergencies. In this hands on 3 day babysitting camp we will go over getting to know your charges, activity planning, easy snacks and meals, what makes a great bedtime and step-by-step guides on what to do in emergencies. A guided workbook will be provided to each learner that they are free to use over and over. We will also be using the workbook throughout class to give examples and fill in all necessary information.

Our classes will break down in a 3-day manner:

Day 1: Getting to know your charges
-We will begin by meeting our fictional charge family that we will be caring for in the coming week. Using our workbooks, we will fill out all relevant information.
-We will then brainstorm possible activities to keep children happy and entertained, with plenty of backup plans.
-We will go over the necessities of what needs to be done for responsible care of each charge.
-We will finish class by creating a list of items to include in our “fun bag”, that we can take on each babysitting job.

Day 2: Emergencies Only
-Continuing on with our workbook, we will fill in all relevant information for each area with the correct emergency phones numbers and contact information.
-We will then go over the rules of an emergency and what to ask the families about their emergency preparation plans.
-Finishing out our class, we will go through different examples and discuss how to react to them.

Day 3: To the kitchens!
-Taking all the information we have learned this week, we will create 3 snacks that are sure to be a hit.
-We will finish our class a Q&A for any questions we have missed or that are still lingering.

At the end of camp, students will receive a certification of Babysitting Readiness Course completion.
Students enrolled in the class are welcome to join our Babysitting group where we share tips, tricks, advice, marketing tools and discuss all the ups and downs of babysitting.
