In this 35-minute class watercolor painting class, students will paint a baby giraffe in watercolor, while learning about these animals and where in the world they are located.
Class experience
**The student will be sent a simple drawing ahead of class to either draw or trace onto WATERCOLOR PAPER. (As this can take a few minutes, it leaves us the entire class time to paint.) I will be demonstrating and encouraging the students to find their own 'style' and enjoy the creativity of painting in a more abstract style with WATERCOLOR paint. (Student may use acrylic paint and extra water, but it will not get the exact same effect as what they will see in class). We will build...
The students will learn to loosen up and paint an image in a more abstract (not photo-realistic) way. They will learn some basics of watercolor painting and practice wet-on-wet techniques. The student will be able to be completely creative and original in the colors they choose and free to work at their own pace and ask questions at any point in the class. In my "Art2Learn" classes, I share other information with the students and include other disciplines. In this class, students will learn some facts about the baby giraffe and I will show the students where these animals live in the world, on a map or globe.
- ** print-out of Giraffe (that will be sent to the classroom several hours before beginning of class) -Watercolor paper. (I encourage using the Canson XL Series Watercolor Paper, Wire Bound, 140 Pound, 9 x 12 Inch or 7x10, 30 Sheets). It can be used as an art journal for various classes, but pages are perforated and can be removed easily for framing, if desired). You can find these journals at your local Michaels or on Amazon (https://amzn.to/30v51qG). - watercolor brushes in various sizes (I used an 8 or a 10). Watercolor brushes have softer, thinner bristles and hole a lot more water than a brush made for acrylics or a cheap brush out of a dollar store kit. - water jar - old rag + paper towels
