We will start by analyzing the reference painting, deciding and planning our work. We will make the draft sketch using our smallest brush and yellow paint. We will talk about Van Gogh painting technique. How he preferred to layer his paint thickly on the canvas in a method called impasto. Students will learn the principles of how tone, light and shade work, which will improve the illusion of the final artwork. I will be painting along with kids step by step encouraging them to use their creativity. Supply list: Canvas, canvas board or paper 11"x14" or 12"X16" Please do not use a larger canvas. It is very difficult for them to paint on the large surface, and they will be behind the class. Acrylic paint, different size of brushes, paper or plastic plate for color mixing. Water, Paper towel.
