Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi! Welcome to my Outschool classroom. My name is Betty Nilssen. I have a BS in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from UW-Milwaukee. I am a first grade teacher, but I have also taught second, third and fourth grade. My passion for teaching reading while incorporating phonics, phonemic awareness, rhyming, comprehension, fluency, science, social studies, math, drawing and writing helps children strengthen their academic skills while they gain academic confidence and a love of learning. Teaching reading is my super power.
However, I incorporate math, writing, drawing, social studies and science into all of my lessons, as well.
I have three adult daughters and two of them are teachers, as well.
There are so many books to read, words and sentences to write, math equations to solve and fiction and non fiction pictures to draw. Let's get started! Enroll your Early Childhood Education student and your child will further develop their academic skills and gain academic confidence. Feel free to reach out to me with any questions or if you are looking for different times or dates for classes.
I can't wait to work with you and your child and further a passion for learning! Mrs. Nilssen
