Advanced Level
This class is several of my classes combined into one mega class. Each week a video lesson will be posted modeling the following activities.
1. Same Sound/Different Spelling- we will investigate up to 7 different ways to spell a single sound, and the rules or tendencies that give us clues on when to use each spelling.

2. Muti-syllable Spelling- this is a structured activity where students with apply their knowledge of the letter sound represented that week.

3. Multi- Syllable Reading- this will teach a structured way to break down large or unfamiliar words the activity is also excellent advanced phoneme practice.

4. Skill-focused reading- passages at varying levels will be posted each week that will provide practice reading text filled with the sound patterns and words practiced that week.

Week 1- /ee/
Week 2- /ai/
Week 3- /s/
Week 4- /er/

Students will follow along with lessons on a dry erase board. Students will work collaboratively in the classroom come up with words that fit the spelling categories of each spelling. I am a Reading specialist at a high need title 1 school. I also have a private practice where I provide intervention to students who have dyslexia. Teaching reading is my favorite thing in the world. If you are struggling or just need support I would love to be a resource to any family working to improve their child’s reading fluency/comprehension.
