informalClass Experience
US Grade Kindergarten
In this course your student will be taught kindergarten math readiness skills to prepare them for the school year ahead. This class is structured to a kindergarten class where a lesson is taught and the students have time to practice skills with teacher and independently. I teach my online classes like my regular kindergarten class where students raise their hand to answer and are encouraged to participate in lessons. In each class the students will begin class with a counting or number song relevant to lesson as a warm up. I will then introduce lesson with number flashcards or writing on my dry erase board for students to engage in the lesson for the day. They will then be asked to participate throughout the lesson. Students should have an awareness of numbers and know how to count to ten. Day 1: Recognize numbers to ten : Counting song as introduction, number recognition through flashcards, number journal to write numbers and sets. Day 2: Number sets to ten: Number song, number flashcards, students will then draw sets to match number that teacher shows in journals. Day 3: Subitize: Show different ways to make numbers 1-5: Subitize song, dot cards to 5-show teacher how many ways you can make number on ten frame or paper. Math journals Day 4 Subitize to 10-subitize song, dot cards to 10, ten frame. Show different ways to make numbers. Day 5 Count to 20 and focusing on the teen numbers Day 6 practice counting to 20 and review skills taught in previous lessons.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Texas Teaching Certificate in Elementary Education
Hello!
My name is Amy Woldt. I have a Bachelor's of Science in Education with a Major in Early Childhood with certification in ESL and Gifted and Talented. I have taught kindergarten and preschoolers for 29 years. During this time I worked with different kind of learners. I have created scaffolded lessons to meet the needs of all my learners, since we all learn differently. With my ESL and Early Childhood expertise, I was lead to teach on another platform teaching English 2018-present to young students. I enjoyed teaching on this type of platform and decided to join the Outschool platform in the Spring of 2020 after retiring from public education. I also tutor reading to two elementary students in person after school.
I am a mom to two boys 19 and 26 and a twelve year old pug, who thinks he's human.
Outside of the classroom, I enjoy traveling, watching movies and swimming with my husband.
I believe that all students can learn under the right guidance, structure and creative learning activities. I hope to see your student in my classroom soon.
