ASL Social Time - Show and Sign!

Learn ASL signs through social time! We will use the concept of "show and tell" for our "show and sign" group, and learn the signs for what students bring! We will also have a theme every week and learn signs relating to the theme.

ASL Ice Breaker - We will play a short game

Share Time: Show and Sign! You can bring a toy, your artwork, a pet... anything, and we will learn the sign for it!

Our weekly theme for the next month is outlined here:

Week of June 14 - June 18 Theme: Transportation

Week of June 21 - June 25 Theme: Animals (Under the Sea Edition)

Week of June 28 - July 2 Theme: Nature

American Sign Language is the third most studied language in the world, and learning it has so many cognitive and practical benefits. ASL has been proven to improve speech development, reading, memory, and tactile skills in children who study it. This class serves as an introduction to the rich language that is ASL, as well as fun activity to challenge your learners brain and hands!

I look forward to seeing your learner in class!

Teacher expertise and credentials
I studied ASL for three years in high school, receiving a 3.90 grade average in the class and completing ASL Level 3. I now use ASL regularly in my work with children with developmental and learning disabilities in elementary schools. This is an introductory level class where I will be introducing the basic principles and hand-shapes of the ASL alphabet.
