We will use Zoom to meet live each week by live demonstrations and live interactions. I will model and guide each student with proper hand shapes for each sign taught while working on facial expressions and speaking while signing. Students will be provided with a printable of each sign to practice at home. Once vocabulary words are mastered, I will introduce sentences that are used in everyday language to encourage communication between the student and the deaf or hard of hearing society. Finally, I encourage questions throughout the lesson but we will also end each class with questions and clarifications. Here is a weekly breakdown of the 4 week course: Week 1 Objectives: -Months of the Year -Days of the Week Sentence: Today is _______ Week 2 Objectives: Basic Household Items -Refrigerator -Bed -Couch -Chair -Desk -Door -Window -Vacuum -Television -Phone -Lamp ROOMS: -Living room -Dining room -Bathroom -Bedroom -Kitchen Sentence: The (lamp) is in the (living room) . Since 3rd grade I have had a passion for deaf culture and teaching ASL spending most of my childhood in a group called World of Children where we preformed sign language to music around the Country. I was in the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade twice, and invited to a Presidential Inauguration. I want to share my knowledge and skills of ASL to others to promote awareness of deaf culture while learning how to communicate in the deaf community.Reviews
