Class Experience

ASL for Advanced is an exciting and interactive class for students who want to continue learning American Sign Language!

This class will be completely silent and is a full immersion class! We will use ASL as our only form of communication; the students will be fully emerged into the language which will greatly help increase their fluency in the language. The course will be very engaging by using PowerPoint slides and demonstrate to teach new vocabulary to the students. Although the course will be silent, it will be very easy for the students to follow along through the teaching style and communication tools used in class.

Weekly Class Schedule:

Week 1: Introduction - Unique Transportation
Week 2: City and Town Topics
Week 3: Construction
Week 4: Household Items
Week 5: Fluency Practice and Translating with Fluff
Week 6: Expressions and Attitudes
Week 7: Events
Week 8: Conversational Vocabulary
Week 9: Advanced Shopping Skills
Week 10: Translating Songs and Review

During this course, the students will learn several hundred new vocabulary signs, increase their fluency with conversational skills, advance their ASL grammar, emerge themselves in Deaf culture and signing, and expand their fluency.

We will learn through games, activities, stories, demonstration, and lots of practice! During each course every child will be given an opportunity to practice their signs one-one-one with me (as well as with each other) in a silent conversation using only ASL!! This will help the children learn to recognize signs as well as use ASL!

This course will be tons of fun!!!

If your student already knows 2,500 signs (or more) and is familiar ASL grammar and classifiers, or has taken my previous courses Part 1 through Part 9, then this is the class for them! If not, then Part 1 may be a good starting point, this course is called: Learn to Sign in 10 Classes. Or feel free to message me for a placement if your student has taken a year or more of ASL in the past.

I am looking forward to learning, laughing, and signing with your students soon!!

This is a Flex Course, which means there are no live meetings. I will be posting the class link on Sunday of each week. The students can watch the recordings at their convenience during the week. I will also be posting group discussion questions and challenges on Fridays. This helps keep the course interactive. I'm available for questions and to help the students thrive, so please don't hesitate to reach out at any time during the course.
