Welcome to the Advanced ASL Practice Course! -🤟🏼 NO VOICE- DEAF & HH TEACHERS Designed for students aged 13-18 who have successfully completed ASL Level 3 & 4, this 10-week course is your next step in mastering the intricacies of American Sign Language. Here, you will refine your skills through sophisticated and nuanced ASL communication, focusing on advanced grammar, idiomatic expressions, and in-depth cultural knowledge. In our weekly sessions, you'll engage in complex dialogues and real-life scenarios, all guided by our skilled Deaf and hard of hearing facilitators. Our no-voice policy ensures that you immerse yourself fully in the language. Prepare to tackle challenging topics, including specialized vocabulary, advanced storytelling, and the use of non-manual signals to convey subtle meanings. You will also explore ASL literature, poetry, and the arts, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the Deaf experience and its cultural significance. By participating in this course, you will gain the skills and confidence to engage in high-level ASL conversations, presentations, and performances, ready to interact fluently in the Deaf community. Ms.Trina is the founder of ASL Kids Club and has over 20 years of experience teaching and working in school districts with both Deaf and hearing children. This extensive background has allowed her to hand-select each teacher to ensure that students receive top-tier instruction.
Our educators boast impressive credentials and experiences:
- One teacher has spent over two decades as an Educational Interpreter and Tutor, working closely with deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Their passion for sign language is driven by personal experiences with Deaf family members.
- Another teacher is proficient in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, American Sign Language, and Nicaraguan Sign Language. With over 10 years of teaching experience, they have served in various roles such as teaching, assisting, and mentoring students and interpreters.
- We also have a Deaf educator with expertise in speech, lipreading, and sign language. Their patience and kindness have positively impacted many students through their work as a tutor and assistant teacher at the School for the Deaf.
Together, our team is committed to providing an enriching ASL learning experience that accommodates diverse backgrounds and fosters growth.
