ASL 2 Elementary Sign Language Course 8 Weeks

Our ASL course features live interactive sessions covering the alphabet, greetings, numbers, and everyday phrases. We combine learning with games and real-world scenarios to ensure a fun and comprehensive experience.

Homework
1 hour per week. Students will have the option to do homework by practicing and completing assignments within the week before the next class. They will need to research and find the meanings of ASL signs, and review them. Alternatively, they may have to finish a Kahoot or Nearpod activity.
Assessment
This is optional but key to seeing their progress, I will offer assessments to keep track of the learner's progress.
Letter Grade
If a student would like grades and has completed the assessments, I will provide a course grade at the end of 5 weeks. I recommend achieving at least 80% in this class to do well in ASL 2. 90-100 = A 80-89 = B 70-79 = C

Welcome to ASL Kids Club! 🎉- HAS SOME VOICE - HEARING & DEAF TEACHERS

Join us for a fun and interactive journey into American Sign Language! Our ASL class is a 8 week long course where we dive into the world of signing, making it a blast to learn and use ASL.

This is a live class that is fun and interactive. We will take turns signing on camera, so it is important to keep your camera on. The teacher may assign students words to review before coming to class. In class, we will work on perfecting signs, movements, palm orientation, and correct facial expressions. 

In this ASL class, depending on the teacher they may  sometimes speak, but other times they may not use their voice. Here is a general breakdown of our schedule and what to expect each week. For the actual topics we will cover, please refer to our syllabus.

Lesson 1:
Review Fingerspelling & Numbers
 Objective: Refresh knowledge of ASL alphabet and numbers.
Vocabulary: Fingerspelling review, Numbers 1-20

 Objective: Learn school-related vocabulary and answer basic introduction questions.

Parental Guidance

- One teacher has spent over two decades as an Educational Interpreter and Tutor, working closely with deaf and hard-of-hearing students. Their passion for sign language is driven by personal experiences with Deaf family members.
- Another teacher is proficient in multiple languages, including English, Spanish, American Sign Language, and Nicaraguan Sign Language. With over 10 years of teaching experience, they have served in various roles such as teaching, assisting, and mentoring students and interpreters.
- We also have a Deaf educator with expertise in speech, lipreading, and sign language. Their patience and kindness have positively impacted many students through their work as a tutor and assistant teacher at the School for the Deaf.
Together, our team is committed to providing an enriching ASL learning experience that accommodates diverse backgrounds and fosters growth.
