Artwork of the Week: 52 Weeks of Art Year 3
Class experience
Each week we will learn about a new work of art and the artist who created it. Where its found, its impact on history and fun facts that get conversations flowing. Come for the art and stay for the laughs. Our class will start with describing the art. What do you see? Pretend I can't see it? Can you paint me a word picture? How does it make you feel? Thanking about art on an individual level. Then as we learn we'll work toward a community or global idea with its impact on history and art...
Students will learn about a different work of art each week including its material, artist, time, culture, and history.
I am an art history professor and teach college students. There are many works of art I would love to share with students. Take a step into my college class with looks at art from around the world and throughout history.
As with any art please review the artworks prior to the scheduled week. Should you have any concerns please reach out. This class covers art from different cultures, times, and backgrounds which may differ from traditional American ideals. Art may contain nudity (noted and you will be advised two weeks prior)
I use a variety of research topics including art history books, khan academy, artists websites, and museum/gallery pages to research each individual work of art/artist. My primary sources are living artists websites, museums where the artwork is located, and the text book Art History by Marilynn Stockstad.
