Class Experience

US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - 2
Beginner Level
3...2...1... Blast off into this awesome space art project! In this one time class, we'll be creating our own galaxies using splatter paint and marbling techniques.

🎨 We'll begin class with a warm welcome and icebreaker question. Learners will have the opportunity to share their favorite space facts, if they have some to share. Then, we'll start creating our galaxies!

🎨 First, we'll learn how to splatter paint onto our paper to make stars.

🎨 While our stars are drying a bit, we'll play a true-false game all about space.

🎨 Next, we'll learn how to marble paint. We'll cut out and dip our circles in the paint to make our planets and moons. Those will be glued to our starry background.

This is such a fun project to make and it's one that can be made over and over, as it will turn out differently each time. There is lots of room to experiment with colors and learners will get to show off their finished masterpieces at the end of class (if they want to- no pressure!).

I am a patient and positive teacher and I truly believe that everyone can create art! I love seeing learners build their confidence and have fun creating something they're proud of. Everyone's finished product will be different and we celebrate those differences! Also, as a former shy kid myself, I am very understanding of learners who take some time to warm up and there is no pressure in my classes to talk if that isn't comfortable yet. All are welcome here!

Heads up to grownups- this craft gets messy! While grownups are asked to remain off camera, learners may need assistance using scissors, pouring paint, and using glue, depending on their comfort level. I would also recommend covering the work area and having learners wear a smock or clothes that can get messy.

Other Details

Parental Guidance
While grownups are asked to remain off camera, depending on your learner's comfort level, they may need brief help pouring paint and using glue. Due to the inherent risks involved with scissors, adult supervision is recommended while learners are cutting. I highly recommend covering the work surface and having your learner wear clothes that can get messy.

I have always loved working with children as well as arts and crafts! I've been a nursery coordinator, daycare teacher, nanny, and school volunteer over the years. I also have three kids of my own who I do art projects with. I have my own Etsy shop and love doing art projects for myself and of course with kids!
