Class Experience

*Artificial Intelligence & Programming Summer Camp I is a prerequisite before taking this class*

In the intermediate camp, students will build upon their knowledge in many topics and program more advanced behaviors and projects.

In speech recognition, they will learn about how to have the robot pick what to say at random and react to multiple phrasings of the same sentence. They will also code the robot and the cubes to interact with each other. In terms of new topics, they will also be introduced to new features such as games and scores that were previously unexplored, and use them to make games in Calypso. Finally, the final project for this camp will challenge students' problem-solving and programming skills acquired throughout this camp to envision a positive use of AI and create a demo in Calypso.

Most lessons in this camp will be structured as teaching and demonstration followed up by a challenge students will solve using what they've learned that day.

Learning objectives (what students will learn in each lesson):

Lesson 1: Speech
- Code Cozmo to react to the speech of other characters
- Code Cozmo to react to multiple phrasing of the same sentence
- Control Cozmo with voice command
- Code Cozmo and other characters to interact using speech

Lesson 2: Games and Scores
- Code using games and scores to create variables in Calypso
- Complete a coding challenge using games and scores

Lesson 3: Rooms and Pages (Advanced)
- Use "in room" to prescribe actions in a room
- Complete a coding challenge using rooms and multiple pages

Lesson 4: Project
- Envision a positive use of AI
- Design and code the entire project demonstrating this positive use in Calypso

We keep class sizes small to ensure every student is fully engaged. This class has a minimum enrollment of 2 learners.
