Informal Assessment of Art piece.Class Experience
This is a beginner level step by step instructional class on how to paint a specific painting each week, using watercolor paint! Student artists will create a new project every week. The topics we will paint are landscapes, nature, still life, animals, birds, sea life and so much more! While there is no right or wrong in art, we can always increase our skills through practice and knowledge of how to use the 'tools' we have available in art making. This will be a supportive environment for students to experiment and create their personal masterpieces. There will be plenty of opportunity for students to share and socialize during class. Students will learn how to use watercolor paints, apply paints to watercolor paper, incorporate techniques into their painting, use basic art vocabulary words, and follow instructions in a fun group class with an instructor with years of both art and teaching experience. The instructor will help guide each student to success and the step-by-step process allows all students to walk away with a successful painting! No prior experience is needed, just a positive attitude! As we paint, students will be able to ask questions, share progress with one another, and converse. I also like to engage students in learning about different techniques. There will not be a separate lesson on techniques and skills. The techniques will be incorporated into the step by step project. Instruction on techniques will vary from week to week. Instruction on techniques may include but are not limited to: crayon resist, variegated wash, drag and pull, stippling, hatch, cross hatch, splattering, contrast, implied texture, and highlighting. Most students will be done by the end of class but some students may need some time after class to finish up. Everyone works at a different speed and it is better to take our time than to rush! If time allows the teacher will provide an extension activity. Extension activities may include but are not limited to: fun facts related to the lesson, a story on the theme, or slides on various art topics. No prior art knowledge or skills are needed for this class. I hope to see your learner in this class soon! *If this class interests your learner please sign up for the class. I'll take the slot and teach even if it's just one learner. I am excited to meet your learner! Upcoming projects: March 11-March 17-pear March 18-24-orange tree March 25-31-still life April 1-7-nature
Learning Goals
~Students will learn how to use watercolor paints, when to clean paint brushes, learn various techniques, basic art vocabulary as it relates to color and paint, how to paint on watercolor paper, follow step by step instructions, use their imaginations and creativity, and have fun!
~This class is for budding artists who know that art isn't about making an exact replica of the teacher's art piece.
~Due to the variety of skill sets in the class, I try to pace the class to meet all students' needs, but this isn't always possible.
