Kids LOVE to share their knowledge and their artwork! This class will allow them to do both! And what could be more fun than discovering the joys of art history while engaging in an energetic, sometimes messy art making experience. In this exploratory style class, students learn about the worlds most beloved artists while creating works inspired by them. This class is an exciting process of making painted papers using a variety of household items to create texture and depth. Class is broken into 4 projects each lasting 2 weeks. The first week of each project, students will spend the first few minutes of class looking at an artwork and learning a bit about the artist, then they will work on creating the components of the work. The following week, students will review the inspiration art and artist, assemble their artwork using collage techniques, add details and may choose to participate in a show and share time. Each new collage will be based on a surprise artist. Past artists have included Eric Carl, Paul Klee, Monet, Picasso and more. The possibilities are endless! This class will run in 8 week sessions, however no session will repeat projects making this an ideal class for those looking for either short bursts of art making or those interested in year long creative collaboration, friendship building and group learning.
