Beginner - Intermediate Level
Art of Dance is an engaging class focusing on the art and technique of contemporary ballet choreography. Through exploration of movement fundamentals, creative exercises, and structured improvisation, students will gain insight into the process of crafting original choreography. They’ll learn essential choreographic elements like space, time, energy, and dynamics, applying these to develop unique dance sequences. This class encourages students to express their creativity while deepening their understanding of contemporary ballet. We will start a new choreography project about every 6 weeks. Students add to their current project each week in class. It is recommended that new students join at the beginning date of the next new session listed below: New Session: Week of Jan 6 - goal and message Week of Jan 13 - shape and connection Week of Jan 20 - space and time Week of Jan 27 - energy and quality of movement more to come!

Parental Guidance
Parents are responsible for the safety of their student/s. A space of at least 4 feet by 4 feet must be clear of any trip hazards or dangerous objects. Students may wear ballet shoes or participate barefoot (no socks).

Cultivating Excellence in Ballet Education and Beyond!
AMBER ROBERTS trained at ballet schools in Virginia from age 7 to adult under Cecchetti, French, and Vaganova methods. She also studied contemporary, jazz, and tap. In her youth, she performed in annual showcases and recitals, danced at public functions, and was often requested to dance solos and choreograph routines for community gatherings.
Amber holds an Associate of Science Diploma (2006), is a Certified Ballet Teacher (ABT Method: 2020-Present), holds a certificate in Strength Training and Injury Prevention (2022), and is CPR and First Aid Certified.
In 2016, Amber began teaching ballet, contemporary, and tap at studios in the Hampton Roads region of Virginia. She teaches beginner to high-intermediate and choreographs routines for year-round training programs and summer intensives. She taught ballet technique for a youth ballet company (2022-2024). She was both a choreographer and rehearsal assistant for three original ballets, and has choreographed for and assisted on the set of numerous holiday and Spring performances since 2016.
Amber has trained students who have been accepted into prestigious summer programs including Ballet Magnificat and American Ballet Theatre. She has also guided and trained dedicated students who have gone on to pursue college dance programs, advancing both their dance careers and long-term life goals.
Amber is deeply passionate about enriching dancers' education beyond technical training. She has developed specialized courses to enhance students’ understanding and appreciation of the art form. Some of these courses include: “Master Ballet Vocabulary: Read, Say, and Spell 100 Ballet Terms,” “Discover Ballet History (15th Century to Present Day),” and “Art of Dance: Concepts, Connection, and Creativity.”
Amber Roberts is proud to include the AMERICAN BALLET THEATRE® National Training Curriculum, a breakthrough 9 level program that combines high quality artistic training with the basics of dancer health and child development. The ABT® National Training Curriculum consists of a comprehensive set of age-appropriate, outcome-based guidelines to provide the highest quality ballet training to dance students of all ages and skill levels. Pre-Primary through Level 3 will be taught by ABT® Certified Teacher, Amber Roberts, who has successfully completed the ABT® Teacher Training Intensive in Pre-Primary through Level 3 of the ABT® National Training Curriculum.
Amber was also a Homeschool mom and teacher for pre-k, elementary, and middle school grades!
