Description

Class Experience

Exploring, challenging, taking risks, through art these things can lead to expansion in your life. Art journaling is a safe space to practice these things, as well as learning some fun techniques and building skills you can use your whole life for self expression and wellness.

What teens will get out of it:
a safe way of expressing themselves
find out that it's okay to have fun and make art
Hi, I'm Anna and I have seen the power of art journaling both in my own life and the lives of many others. I have been teaching art journaling on line since April 2020, but taught it in person for many years. I have trained as an artist-educator with the Royal Conservatory; I was a parent educator, supporting parents with children's mental health issues; and have worked as a peer-support worker. Art journaling, a safe and private place to express yourself, is a wonderful tool for your whole life.

Basically-something to journal on; something to journal with; some images, glue, scissors, A journal to work in, or a pad of 8 " X 10" 140 lbs watercolour paper (watercolour paper is better than mixed media paper) paint-acrylic paint-blue, yellow, red, white, and black paint brushes-big and small markers-white Posca marker is everyone's favourite, along with a variety of basic markers in a variety of colours scissors for glue-matte or gloss medium is best, but a glue stick or school glue is fine too a magazine, or images to choose from-I like national geographics an old card-for scraping the paint-old library card, gift card-could just be a piece of cardboard is fine napkins or paper towel rinse water all and any favourite art supplies-crayons, pencil crayons, markers, pastels
This is a no-rules, can't do it wrong art class where there will be no judging of work. Every piece has elements that are remarkable...that is where I offer feedback...on elements of wonder that all art-makers are capable of.
1 hour 15 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
