Important Notes: All of my classes are inclusive. Classes are suitable for the neurodiverse child. CEFR: B1-B2 or above. Learner discovers a group of the main 20th C. artists from each Latin American country, from Mexico to Argentina, including the Greater Antilles. The carefully curated selection showcases different styles and media granting Learner a universal art appreciation, including a rich selection of art movements: realism, 'costumbrista', abstraction, cubism, constructionism, performance, and more. The slide presentation includes at least one artist per country (24 artists in total). At the end of this general introductory class, Learner will know many of the main artists of the Latin American continent, such as the great Mexican muralist sought after the Rockefeller family in New York, as well as from cities such as Detroit and San Francisco. Class is structured with a welcome and introduction time, the slide presentation invites engagement in the form of questions, comments, discussions. Class is taught in an inclusive, interactive way, in an environment that is curious, fun, enriching, and kind. Class size is kept small so every Learner enjoys time to participate and become part of this fascinating subject. For these reasons, and for gauging Learner's interest level and to be able to adjust accordingly, I require open mics and video in my classes so there is a sense of community and engagement with the material. Learner is just asked to raise his hand when wishing to say something, so we do not talk over each other, but listen mindfully. Class includes information from primary sources making the class material truly come to life in a meaningful way. This class is one of a group of Art History classes, which may be taken as a complete group, as in a camp format, or separately. In addition to being kid-friendly, by following the history of art through a unifying theme, pedagogically speaking, it helps the child organize the many artists and styles in a way that is more clear and easier to remember. No previous experience is required.
