Important Notes: All of my classes are inclusive and welcome the neurodiverse child. CEFR: B1-B2 or above. #academic In this fun, fascinating and enriching class, Learner will travel from ancient times to modern day discovering the many cultures, artists, periods and styles where Cats have been an inspiring muse for their feline mystery, playfulness and elegance. Learner will develop art & cultural appreciation through the many examples explored from civilizations including Egypt, China, Japan, Italy, and countries like Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Colombia, and the USA among others. Presentation will include some of the great classics like Picasso and Renoir, showcasing also folk art from Mexico. Additionally, Learner will see examples of how cats have supported and inspired human lives in a more personal way. The class is structured with an introduction, a rich slide presentation, exchanges, and Q&A. Teaching style is kind and inclusive, emphasizing love for the arts, animals, with captivating learning & discovery. Learners will interact with teacher and each other throughout the class. Class size is kept small to allow for their comments and vital curiosity. For these reasons and for gauging Learner's interest level and to be able to adjust accordingly, I require open mics and video in my classes so there is a sense of community and engagement with the material. This class is one of a group of Art History classes, which may be taken as a complete group, as in a camp format, or separately. In addition to being kid-friendly, by following the history of art through a unifying theme, pedagogically speaking, it helps the child organize the many artists and styles in a way that is more clear and easier to remember. No previous experience is required.
Learning Goals
Student will learn through the main image of the Cat about the evolution of art throughout history and cultures.
