Class Experience

Beginner Level
In this four lesson acrylic painting self paced course learners will develop their sense of imagination and creativity while exploring weekly art projects and have opportunity to express themselves in a visual context.

The art project topics are seasonal themed. Learners will paint a pumpkin with fall leaves, cat on a tree with fall leaves, a cat and pumpkin, and a fox and moon. I will teach each lesson with a video tutorial. Learners can expect from to walk away with a complete project each week after watching the pre-recorded video lesson.

This is a Self Paced class, meaning NO LIVE CLASSES, you sign up and then watch the videos as your schedule allows, participate in the classroom discussion, ask any question you want, and share your work as you complete each project.

The lessons will post the lesson on the classroom page. There will be a step by step video instruction for the project of the week as well as additional information. I'll check into class to see how everyone is doing. Students will upload an image or video clip of their art work directly to the classroom. I'll check into class to see finished projects from students (that they have uploaded to class), and give simple feedback. This is of course optional if there is a student that really doesn't feel comfortable doing so, however it is also highly encouraged with this type of participation. I do also give my own engaging words of support, encouragement and praise to each individual student who shares their art in our classroom.

In addition learners can post pictures and/or videos of their work (and their works in progress) on the classroom page at any time so that the teacher can give feedback and encouragement on their pieces. It will be uplifting and helpful to the students and it will be fun!

This class will offer art activities to expand the creative experience and awareness of children in visual arts. Students will explore different styles and techniques. The instruction on techniques is incorporated into the step by step lesson on the particular painting and not a separate lesson.

The most important aspects of the art projects are discovery, exploration and individual creativity. While learning discovering different styles, it is still up to the learner to decide exactly how their art will turn out.

While my directions are detailed, and I want students to become familiar with different techniques. I also want students to be able to express their own creative voice. I encourage students to add their own unique details to make their artwork truly their own.

The only prior skill required is the ability to follow detailed visual and verbal directions.

Each lesson will not only include art instruction, but also an opportunity for students to express themselves.

Here is a breakdown of what learners can expect from each pre-recorded lesson:

Lesson 1: Paint a pumpkin and leaves using acrylic paint.

Lesson 2: Paint a cat on a tree with fall leaves with acrylic paint.

Lesson 3: Paint a cat and pumpkin.

Lesson 4: Paint a fox and moon.

Outschool embeds the link on its platform so that learners remain on the Outschool platform and don’t access the YouTube website. *Acrylic paint does not come off of clothing so you may want to provide an oversized t-shirt or a smock for your learner to wear.
