informalClass Experience
In this course learners will draw a half page self portrait through cutting a half page selfie photograph in half and taping it to a piece of drawing paper. We'll then discuss specific drawing techniques such as perspective, positive and negative space, highlights and shading. Class will begin with introductions, a short presentation on self portraits for inspiration, a fun exercise called "blind contours" to loosen things up, preparation of our "canvas" and then drawing of self portraits! Time will be saved at the end to share our drawings with each other, ask questions and discuss what we learned and applied. Instructor sets up a two camera system so that teacher can be observed for questions and discussions and then hands on demonstrations can we shown close up.
Learning Goals
Students will learn about perspective, shading, positive and negative space.
