The Elements of Art are line, shape, color, texture, value, space, and form. Students will participate in a discussion about the Elements of Art. I will attach a Power Point for students to download prior to class. Each day we will look specifically at the Elements of Art and how artists use them in their work. We will also create sketches of the elements. Students will create their own picture, like the one above, using the materials they provide. I will be drawing along with the students. This is a step-by-step drawing class. Learning Objectives Students will be able to: • learn and describe the Elements of Art. • analyze art that corresponds to the elements • draw a picture that includes all the elements The image above was created by a 5th-grade student.

Supply List
I try to keep cost at a minimum. I will be flexible with items and hope that you have some of them at home. White construction paper or sketchbook, preferably size 12x18, a ruler, and a box of at least 24 quantity crayons. If a ruler is not available, something with a straight edge will work like a tissue box or book. If you have other materials such as markers, colored pencils, or watercolor paints, I can show you how to complete the project using a variety of materials.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Teacher expertise and credentials
Delaware Teaching Certificate in Music/Theater/Arts
During the school year I teach art to students in both a general classroom and special needs classroom. My school is in the city and serves students in grades K-5. I am trained in all areas of art. I also teach blocks of reading and math to students in a small group setting. The lessons that I am teaching in this class are lessons that I have taught at my school.
