Class Experience

US Grade 2 - 5
Students will have fun drawing a unicorn! They will describe unicorns in complete sentences using adjectives such as "My PINK unicorn stands on a SPARKLY cloud." Adjectives modify or change the meaning of a noun such as "SPARKLY cloud." "Sparkly" is an adjective that describes the noun, "cloud."

Prior knowledge needed: Students must be able to identify a NOUN (a word that describes a person, place, or thing) and a VERB (an action word) in a sentence. The word, ADJECTIVE, will be introduced in this lesson.

1.	Introduction: Define ADJECTIVE
2.	Guided ADJECTIVE/NOUN Instruction & Oral Practice
3.	Independent Practice / Check for Understanding
4. Step-by-Step Drawing Instruction
5. Extended Writing Practice for Homework
Learning Goals
Students will (1) define an "adjective," "noun," and "pronoun," (2) use an eight-step process to draw a unicorn, and (3) brainstorm aloud sentences containing adjectives to describe unicorns.
