Class Experience

Beginner - Intermediate Level
In this semester-long, 15-week, art course, we will be working on an array of art mediums and techniques. This course will fulfill the art elective needed, and by the end of the 15 weeks, students will leave with a course completed certificate. During our time together, students will be more confident in creating, as well as informed of different techniques, definitions, theories, and artists.

Each week, I will explain the project that we will be working on by both example and verbal direction. I will use a second camera pointed towards the example project to explain what and how we are proceeding for the day. I encourage questions at any time during the class. Once students have begun their work, I will then talk to them about the weekly artist (historical and/or contemporary) that coincides with the technique and/or medium we are using. I will also discuss the different theories that specific artist uses. This will help to create a more well-rounded experience and curriculum for each student.

There will be no grading system, art is very subjective, but I do encourage critical thinking and practice constructive criticism from myself and other students. This being said, bullying or disrespect is an absolute no-no in my classroom. Students are expected to act maturely, kindly, and encouraging with themselves and their classmates.

This is a virtual tour that a few of the more famous museums around the world use to show exhibits (MoMA, Louvre, etc.). There is no need for any accounts or signing in/up from the students. It is a free website available to anyone. I will be sharing my screen as we navigate through specific art exhibits. If you have any questions about the "field trip", please let me know.

Hi there! My name is Tessa DeForge. I live in the beautiful state of Vermont with my husband, 2 silly dogs and 2 precocious cats. I graduated from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in 2011 and hold a bachelor's in Art Education.
I am very passionate about education. I have taught in a traditional setting for 10 years as a 6-12 art teacher and as an early educator. I love to teach a multitude of things through art and play. Some of the classes I offer are: Art Social Group, Crochet Club, 1;1 Knitting and Crochet classes, as well as social groups, to name a few. I am always looking to expand on my class list. The skies the limit when it comes to art and I hope to have some more exciting classes up and running in the very near future.
