US Grade 3 - 6
We will learn about one country each lesson. We will start each class by learning different facts about each country including its location, capital, flag, language, and other basic information. We will continue our quest of learning about this country by reading about the country from a child's point of view. We will learn what a normal day for a child is in that country, from what they eat for breakfast to what they do after school. Following this we will look at a short presentation and look at different pictures from the country. Next, we will have a class discussion allowing the student to discuss their thoughts. We will follow up by having a special craft for that country. The time may go over depending on the speed of the children and their craftsmanship, so they can either continue to work online or finish as homework. These are standalone classes, so students are able to join at any time. Students will also receive additional materials that they can use after class to reinforce what was taught. Week of Jan. 7 - Create and decorate a Japanese paper fan Week of Jan. 14: Honduras - Create a Scarlet Macaw Week of Jan. 21: Greece - Make a Laurel Wreath Week of Jan. 28: Philippines - Create a Filipino Parol Each week we will discover another country. This class has over 100 countries to explore!
