Beginner - Intermediate Level
Students will learn how to brainstorm ideas for a topic and write an essay on the topic. They will be provided step by step guidance on how to write their essays. They will learn to research about a topic from the internet and will learn to skim information and then put them in their writing. They will get to interact a lot with classmates, watch videos on a topic, listen to lectures and watch slides to help them with the process of writing. This is a highly interactive class and students will get to discuss and share their ideas with the class. Class Description: Day 1- Learn to write an Argumentative Essay on a Topic- Should students be required to learn a second language? Students brainstorm ideas, do research and fill out graphic organizers. They then start writing the essay with step by step guidance. Day 2- Revision of their essays, get corrective feedback on their writing, learn how to debate on the topic taking sides. Day 3- Students practice writing Argumentative essay on a second topic- Should cell phones be allowed in schools? Students brainstorm ideas, do research and fill out graphic organizers. They then start writing the essay with step by step guidance. Day 4- Revision of their essays, get corrective feedback on their writing, practice debating on the topic taking sides.
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to write Argumentative essays and do debate on given topics. Topics that students will work on in this class are :
Topic 1-Should students be required to learn a second language?
Topic 2-Should cell phones be allowed in schools?
Students will write an essay on a topic and learn to debate on that topic the following week. If there is more time in the class, we will explore more topics.

I am an Economics Post Graduate and have been teaching for the last 13 years to various age level students both at Private and Public schools in Bay area, California. Currently, work as a Public school teacher. I am passionate about teaching and love sharing my knowledge with others as I believe this is extremely rewarding. I decided to become a teacher because I love to learn, be around children, and learn from others. Every single day we as teachers make a difference in someone's life which goes far beyond knowledge. My motto is to inspire, support, mentor and get the chance to discover and share some of the best parts of ourselves as human beings.
I live in the San Francisco Bay area with my husband and 16 year old son. When I am not teaching, I like reading and listening to music. I love traveling around the world, knowing different cultures, social lives and their cuisines.
I am excited to meet my new students and looking forward to working with them soon.
