Class Experience

US Grade 6 - 9
In this class, students will be introduced to the basic foundations of argumentative writing such as claims, reasons, evidence, persuasive techniques, transitional phrases and maintaining an objective tone. Additionally, we will discuss evaluating sources and citing evidence to support claims and thesis statements. Lastly, as a class we will analyze sample essays and discuss how to organize and format our ideas in paragraphs.

Students will be provided with our class notes in a PDF version, which will allow them to revisit them even when the class is over. Students will have the opportunity to collaborate with their peers in whole class discussions. Students will also have the opportunity to practice their writing skills and will be provided with individualized feedback.

Hello and welcome to my profile page! On Outschool, I offer classes that support students with grammar, literary analysis strategies and essay writing skills. I have been teaching language arts for over 8 years. I am certified to teach 6th-12th grade students. I also have a teaching endorsement for ESOL. I am a former middle school cheerleading coach. In the summer months, I teach preschool children between the ages of 2 and 5 years old. I enjoy teaching and interacting with students of all ages.

I have several degrees : a Bachelor's degree in English, an M.A.T. degree in Secondary English Education and a Specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. I am extremely passionate about teaching. I love helping students make meaning from the short stories, poems and novels they read and I enjoy showing them how to analyze literature for a deeper understanding. I'm also great at helping students format various types of essays so they can articulate their ideas effectively.
For fun, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, coaching cheerleading, trying new restaurants and going to the park. I also love listening to audiobooks and playing chess.
