Class Experience

US Grade 3 - 6
Welcome to Camp Anawana!

Do you enjoy writing creative stories?

Do you want to write and tell your spooky story by our campfire? (campfire is fake)

This is an ongoing club, the classes do not build on each other. Each week the genre and topic will be discussed in class. This is a student-led club.

Towards the end of each session, learners will meet by the campfire at the Midnight society and tell their stories!

Join us in our Creative writing summer camp.

This class is an ongoing class. Learners can join and withdraw as they would like.

The teachers conducting these camps are writing educators. They have been working with learners in 4th-6th grade for over 20 years.

This club aims to get learners to write their creative spooky stories and other genres.

In the first 15-20 minutes of class, we will discuss different genres. We will read and discuss example stories for each genre.
We will discuss the introduction of the story. Characters, settings, plot, and genre.

These classes are very fun and interactive with students encouraged to discuss and give ideas.
Learners are encouraged to ask questions throughout the class. Learners can also share their stories towards the end of class around the campfire.

This club will meet once a week. In this club, learners will use their creativity to create some spooky stories.

Learners will need paper and pencil each meeting unless they are using an iPad with an Apple pencil.

Each class will be structured as follows:
First 15-20 minutes of brainstorming
5-minute snack break, learners can bring s'mores or other snacks
last 20-25 minutes of writing
10 minutes of Q&A and sharing(optional) Teacher will review before dismissal
