Are you excited by mystery and adventure? Come join Archaeology 101, and learn all about archaeology, cool techniques, and volunteer opportunities around the world. In this class, you can expect to see clips from the Adventures of Indiana Jones/Percy Jackson and other explorers, and as a class, we will analyze the correct and incorrect ways to do archaeology. Take out your brush and follow along the proper ways to find treasure, and join in a group discussion on your interests in this field. I will guild the students on how to find these great opportunities so that your dreams can become a reality! Find all the hidden coins and their secret numbers and get a treasure hunter certificate at the end of class! Class structure: 1. Introduction to Archaeology - mini-lecture with slideshow- (15 mins) 2. Watch clips to see the right or wrong way to do archaeology - in zoom game/voting and discussion (15 mins) 3. Each kid gets a chance to discuss where they want to go & volunteer opportunities (how to find them) (20 mins) - every kid has the chance to speak for around 1.5-2 minutes. I will pick 1 or 2 themes or places mentioned and show them how to find opportunities on their own. 4. Closing and Goodbyes (5 mins) No prior knowledge needed.

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science at the University of Ottawa (2011-2016). Through this I have learned formal archaeology training. In the summer of 2016 I went to Menorca, Spain and did two archaeological digs, both on land and underwater as a part of my degree in history.
I also received certificates from: Sanisera Archaeology Institute for International Field Schools Certificates (2016) for Underwater Archaeology in the Mediterranean Sea- Ciutadella, Menorca and Land Archaeology- excavation of Roman City of Sanisera, Spain.
I also have the Tri-Council Policy Statement 2 CORE Certificate (Research Ethics) (2018).
