This course covers everything from the science of why we feel anxious to the coping mechanisms needed to reduce anxiety! I have curated this course to be as informative and detail-orientated as possible, covering all aspects of anxiety and mental health. Students will learn breathing patterns, visual practices, and kinetic exercises along with organizational tips and ways to map out and manage stress. Social skills are so important - that's why I focus on emotional regulation, communication, and coping mechanisms for social anxiety. Don't forget self-care! Self-care looks different for kids of different ages so this part of the class will be tailored to meet the individual needs of your student in a developmentally appropriate way. Please see the syllabus for a detailed breakdown of weekly topics. (There's a lot!) My degree is in child psychology and I love being able to empower students with knowledge of how their own brain works! By teaching a deeper understanding of the science behind anxiety and how to manage it on their own, my goal is to give kids back some of the power they feel they've lost due to struggling with anxiety. - All students will leave class with notes and the slideshow of information we accumulate while in class. *This class is meant to be educational in nature and is not a substitute or replacement for therapy or mental health care.*
