Class Experience

This training is not meant to turn you into a superhero or a martial artist but is a practical course for people to learn basic breakaway techniques to enable an escape to safety. The techniques include breakaway from a stranglehold, bear hug and other restrictive holds, blocks to a punch and defence to a kick.

Week 1
This video will cover your poster during the confrontation, and how to face the aggressor. We will also look at what to do when an aggressor punches, kicks, grabs or tries to strangle you.

Week 2
This video will cover when you are pinned to a wall and how to deal with this situation. Poster and attitude.  Situations such as being choked against a wall, by an aggressor

Week 3
This video will cover when you are attacked suddenly from the back such as a choke, headlock, bear hug, grabbing your hair

Week 4
This video will cover when you are thrown to the ground and how to defend yourself such as the aggressor being on your side and punching you, when you are on your back and the aggressor is between your legs striking you, how to get up etc.

Lesson 1:
How to face the aggressor
 This video will cover your poster during the confrontation, and how to face the aggressor. We will also look at what to do when an aggressor punches, kicks, grabs or tries to strangle you.

Tailored instructional videos and methods, including visual aids and structured modules, create an enriching, accessible Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu learning experience for all children, supported by a positive and inclusive community environment.
Parental Guidance
This course does not guarantee a learner's safety as noted in the learning goals: A practical Flex class for students to learn basic breakaway techniques to enable an escape to safety. Students must take note and follow the safety aspects of the technique to ensure that no injury occur. These safety rules will be highlighted with every technique. Also the presence of the parents to help oversee the safety aspects of the technique. This Flex Class will give them and awareness and tools to deal with a bad situation that may well protect them. Ensure adequate warmup before practicing the techniques, water bottle for hydration and comfy loose clothing.
Pre-Requisites
Basic Self Defence Flex Class is a practical course for students to learn basic breakaway techniques to enable an escape to safety. No experience needed
Supply List
An area of 4mx4m of jigsaw mates at least 20mm thick for students to practice on. (optional) or just a soft floor ground drills
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
