Class Experience

This is an engaging and highly interactive class. Students will participate constantly throughout the class.
In an ever advancing arms race nature has pioneered some truly bizarre and extraordinary weapons of both self defense and destruction. Through videos, and interactive slides and activities we will discover some unbelievable weapons of nature that might better fit in a sci-fi movie. Come prepared to test your creativity in your own Natures Arms Race activity, and take polls on some very tough Would-You-Rather questions. Would you rather be punched at 60mph by a Peacock shrimp? Or seared by boiling hot explosive gas from a Bombardier Beatle?

Welcome to Nature Nates Wonder Wild Outdoor school! All classes encourage students to get outside and facilitate discovery and wonder of the natural world near you. Come explore the incredible natural world right in your back yard and around the world! Hone critical thinking, and scientific observation skills while learning core science and natural history principles.
Our class core values emphasize;
- Environmental awareness and stewardship
- Wonder of Nature
- Hands on experiential learning
- Getting outside to explore!

Ever an avid outdoorsman I have always held a deep wonder and passion for the natural world and the mysteries of its science. For over ten years I directed or facilitated outdoor education programs in the mountains of Arizona and California. Beyond that I guided treatment based rafting, climbing and backpacking programs in locations like the Grand Canyon. Now I am excited to be teaching classes again and helping to get kids outside and exploring in nature.
