Class Experience

US Grade 1 - 3
Students will be given a short lecture on the basics on how to form arguments, listen, take notes, and respond to opponents. After answering any questions students might have, they will be given a topic to have debates against each other that will be judged by the instructor and the other students in the class. Students will be given time a short amount of time to prepare their speech after being given tips on preparation. After each debate students will be given a decision on who won, tips on how to improve, and other advice about the arguments they made on the topic. After every student has participated in a debate, students will be given a second topic to debate. In the second round students who won the first round will against other students who won, while students who lost the first round will debate against other students who lost. No prior knowledge of debate, public speaking, or biology are required to participate in the course. This course can be taken multiple times. This course is best for students who might be a bit shy or nervous but who are excited to participate.

Learning Goals
