Week 1- Introduction and expectations of the course. We will discuss what makes the game so unique, what makes it different from other games and how there are so many ways for our character to look. Students will learn what descriptive writing is and how it allows for more visuals throughout a piece of writing. Through a class discussion students will be asked to think about what their character looks like, using the descriptive content we learned. Week 2- I will share my character description, while I am sharing students can quickly draw/color/picture in their head what my character looks like, if I did a good job my actual character should match the picture they have. I will then show a picture of my character to see if my character actually matches my description. This will lead into a discussion on emphasizing, detailing, and elaborating in writing. Students will work on their character description. Week 3- Students will finish up and share their character descriptions with the class. We will all visualize what each character looks like and then students will be able to show their character to the class.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their understanding of descriptive writing.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi, I am so happy to get the opportunity to teach your child. I am a graduate of Ball State University in Indiana with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education. I have taught fourth and sixth grade, I love the upper elementary students. I am currently tutoring two neighborhood students in first and third grade. Teaching science is exciting when it comes to learning about the scientific method through experiments. I ran the fourth grade science fair for two years and get so excited about doing all different kinds of experiments. I enjoy math because there are so many different way to teach and learn. We can use manipulative, play games, and do activities in order to learn best. I truly believe children learn best when learning through activities that they are interested in. During my free time I love to swim and be active. For 8 years I worked at a pool over the summer, teaching swim lessons, lifeguarding and worked my way up to manager. I also love to read and have recently picked up cross-stitching.
