Hello, and thank you for your interest in Animal Battles Reading Club! My name is Kristi Robertson, but learners call me Mrs. Kristi. If your child is obsessed with ferocious apex predators you are in the perfect place! Animal Battles Reading Club meets weekly for 25 minutes per class. Each class is independent of all the others and the content does not build from the previous class, so your child may come and go at any time. Young learners will have an opportunity to gather virtually with friends and their teacher to listen to read and discuss what would happen if one fierce animal challenged another's territory! We will read, discuss, and analyze one book (one animal battle / two animals) per week. Books will be non-fiction and the class will be structured as follows: 1. Greetings 2. Animal Battles: A book about a different animal challenge will be read each week. 3. Discussion: We will discuss the competitors, secret weapons, attack moves, and the fight! 4. Goodbyes I teach and lead young learners in a patient and engaging environment. My teaching style is to make sure each learner has fun while learning. My primary goal is for each learner to enjoy reading and to learn that reading for pleasure can be a fulfilling hobby. My secondary goal is for learners to enjoy being in class and interacting with the teacher and classmates. Learners will be able to interact with me and other classmates during the discussion of the books. Please reassure your child that they may speak in class if they'd like to, but they are not required to speak if they don't feel comfortable doing so. Following is the outline the course will follow and the books that will be read and discussed: 1. Week of 11/14/22: Animal Battles: Great White Shark vs. Killer Whale, By: Thomas K. Adamson 2.
