Beginner Level
This self-paced class includes 3 classes that engage you in yoga poses while learning physical and behavioral animal adaptations. This fun blend of yoga and science incorporates the VA Standards of Learning. Classes range from 23-20 mins. Students need no prior experience or knowledge. You'll learn energizing and calming breaths to balance emotions and minimize stress. You'll receive detailed verbal and kinesthetic instructions on engaging in seated, kneeling, standing, prone, and reclined yoga poses. We'll end with relaxation to quiet the body and mind. Come explore yoga and science with me!

In the world of animals, life goes through so many changes. Don't forget that we too also change, not just physically but emotionally and developmentally. Learn about complete and incomplete metamorphosis through yoga.

Lesson 3:
Hibernation Energy Yoga
Do you have lots of energy? Hibernation animals change their energy levels through physical and behavioral adaptations to adapt to cold temperatures. Many burrow. Some den. Brumation animals slow down their activity, breath, and heart rate. Come explore the energy changes of animals to help them species that take dramatic actions to survive the winter.

Learning Needs
Yoga offers unique kinesthetic opportunities for kids who have ADHD and autism. It increases coordination, body awareness, focus, flexibly, and muscle strength. Yoga also helps give them greater self-confidence and ways to reduce anxiety.
Parental Guidance
Please ensure your student has a water bottle available. If you have a yoga mat and blanket, that’s great. There is always a risk of injury when engaging in any exercise. Please ensure your student follows all instructions and does not go beyond their limits to ensure they stay safe in their practices.

I have taught Kids Yoga, Family Yoga, and Baby Toddler Me Yoga since 2012. I have a Masters in Education with a certification in K-6th, biology, and earth science. I have a Bachelors of Science in Biology with an Environmental Studies minor. I am a former public school teacher of 5 yrs and homeschool teacher of 10 yrs. I am also a 200 hr certified Yoga Teacher with additional certifications in Kids Yoga, Mommy Me Yoga, and Prenatal Yoga. I've taught Kids Yoga with Parks & Recreation, Camp Kum-Ba-Yah summer camp and after-school program, and STEM camps. I taught weekly in-person and online Kids Yoga at Governors Charter Academy for 4 yrs. Kids Yoga with science themes is my passion! I can't wait to share it with your kiddos!
