Welcome to this 6 week Anger Management class, over the course of several engaging weeks, your child will embark on an exciting learning journey filled with fun, games and activities to teach them essential skills required for anger management. In these interactive classes, we will delve into vital aspects of anger management, such as understanding and coping with the feeling of anger. My goal is to provide your child with tangible, real-world skills to help them to self-regulate. The classes will meet once a week as young learners benefit greatly from repetition and frequent support. This approach aligns with their age and developmental stage, helping them internalise and practice these new skills effectively. We will: Week 1 & 2: Understanding Anger (25 August - 1 September) ▶︎ Explore the importance of emotions. ▶︎ Explore the ‘world of anger’, making it a familiar and understandable emotion through interactive activities like puppetry, storytelling, and group discussions. ▶︎ Engage in a fascinating science experiment to visually represent anger. ▶︎ Share experiences with anger. Week 3: Identifying Triggers (8 September) ▶︎Uncover the triggers that can set off anger, not only in oneself but also in others. Week 4: Expressing Anger (15 September) ▶︎Explore unhealthy and healthy ways to express anger, equipping young learners with insight into how to manage this emotion. Week 5: Nurturing Coping Skills (22 September) ▶︎Review child-friendly coping strategies, empowering children to manage their anger in a healthy way. ▶︎Learn the art of choosing the most suitable strategy for various situations, enhancing emotional intelligence. I have been teaching social, emotional, well-being and character development for most of my career. To support this work, I have been trained in and utilize various accredited social and emotional programs, including Zones of Regulation, Kelso's Choices, and Second Step. These programs have also played a key role within my lessons as they promote emotional intelligence, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
I have spent a number of years working with students with ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder. The focus of my work was on developing their executive functioning, social skills, and academics.
