We will use Youtube to watch a video on the beginnings of ancient Rome. This video covers six topics: setting the stage, origins of Rome, geography, the first Romans, the Greeks, and the Etruscans. The video demonstrates the successes and challenges of the lives of the ancient Roman people who settled there. Students will take fill in the blank notes on the six topics as they watch. Next, students will use Google My Maps which is a platform to learn geography. It allows students to pin locations on a map, and add images and descriptions for that location so that they can visualize what it would be like to visit each particular location. MyMaps also allows students to see how big the world is, and what life might look like in a place other than where they live.
