In this class we will learn about the major Egyptian five gods Osiris, Isis, Set, Nephthys and Horus. These original Egyptian gods were very important in the daily life and culture of ancient Egypt. We will look at some of the myths surrounding these gods such as Isis and the Seven Scorpions, along with other animal influenced deities such as Anubis the jackal headed god of death, Sobek the crocodile god of strength and power and Bastet the cat goddess. Learners will explore why certain animals such as cats and scorpions were held in such high esteem in ancient Egypt and how different pharaohs caused the evolution of ancient Egyptian beliefs towards gods and goddesses. The class will be composed of visually interesting slides, interactive discussions, quiz questions, a video from Ted-ed and artwork. Leaners will get to draw their favourite Egyptian god or goddess at the end of the class so please bring some paper and colour pens. All are welcome!
