Step back in time and immerse yourself in the captivating world of Ancient Egypt.  This class takes you on a remarkable journey through one of the world's most fascinating civilizations.  Explore the awe-inspiring aspects of daily life, the influential pharaohs, the gods and goddesses, the magnificent pyramids, and the mysterious realm of mummies.

This class does not meet live.  Each week at 8 AM EST, I will post a video, an assignment, and a game in the classroom.  A pre-recorded video will serve as your guide, transporting you through the narratives of history.  Accompanying this, you will find an engaging assignment.  And to add a touch of fun, a thought-provoking game awaits your participation.

Week 1: Daily Life in Ancient Egypt
Discover daily life that unfolded on the banks of the Nile River.  Unearth the social structure, roles, and occupations of ancient Egyptians.  Delve into family life, education, food and drink, fashion, art, and leisure activities.  Gain insights into the customs, rituals, and beliefs that shaped their existence.

Week 2: The Power of Pharaohs
Embark on a captivating exploration of the pharaohs, the divine rulers of Ancient Egypt.  Uncover the significant pharaohs throughout history and their enduring legacies.  Engage in discussions about their achievements, policies, and the mysteries surrounding their lives.

Week 3: Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt
Enter the fascinating realm of Egyptian mythology and religious practices.  Examine the diverse gods and goddesses worshipped by the ancient Egyptians.  Explore the stories and symbolism associated with deities such as Ra, Osiris, and Isis.  Gain a deeper understanding of religious rituals, temples, and the concept of an afterlife.

Week 4: Architectural Marvels: Pyramids of Egypt
Marvel at the grandeur of the pyramids, the monumental structures that define Ancient Egypt. Unravel the engineering marvels behind their construction, the symbolism embedded within their design, and their purpose as tombs for the pharaohs.  Study iconic examples like the Great Pyramid of Giza and explore the secrets they hold.

Week 5: Journey to the Afterlife: Mummies
Embark on an extraordinary exploration of ancient Egyptian beliefs surrounding death and the afterlife.  Explore the elaborate funeral rituals, mummification processes, and the significance of burial practices.  Discover the treasures and artifacts preserved in tombs, including the famous tomb of Tutankhamun.  Investigate the mysteries surrounding curses and the enduring fascination with mummies.

Parental Guidance
This class will discuss Egyptian gods and goddesses. Discussions of the afterlife in Egyptian mythology and the burial practices of Ancient Egyptians will be explored. We will use Gimkit, Kahoot, and Nearpod. These external resources do not require an account and will be accessed via a link I provide.
