Ancient Egypt 6-Week Course: History, Famous Figures and Mythology

In this 6-week course we will go back in time to Ancient Egypt and learn about the geography, history, culture, mythology and famous figures of this famous civilisation. Comprehension questions, videos and drawing tutorials in every class!

Week 1: Learn about the major gods and goddess in ancient Egypt, how religion influenced society and daily life, and what temples such as Karnak temple looked like. We will play a game of heads up and complete a drawing tutorial! 

Week 2: Journey to the afterlife. Learn about how important death and the afterlife was to ancient Egyptians, how they prepared mummies, the funeral processions to the tombs and how the Book of the Dead helped them navigate the underworld and reach the weighing of the heart ceremony in front of the throne of Osiris. Week 3: Wonders of Egypt. Explore the pyramids, the valley of the kings, the river Nile, the tomb of Queen Hatshepsut and more! 

Week 4: Learn about the life and death of the famous boy king Tutankhamun. 

Week 5: We will learn about the life of Egypt's last pharaoh Cleopatra and how the ancient civilisation finally fell and was conquered by Rome.

Week 6: Learn about Egypt today as a tourist destination, the new GEM museum next to the pyramids of Giza, the golden parade and the continued hunt for the tombs of Cleopatra, Alexander the Great and other ancient rulers!

No prior experience or knowledge needed. All are welcome!
